A vivid tribute to the revolutionary master of the tango from his friend and disciple, Richard Galliano. An explicit, elaborate homage, invigorating, perfect and enthusiastic. More than anyone else, Galliano grasped the essence of Astor Piazzolla’s music, at once so popular, so danceable, and yet rigorous to the point of being almost classical. This film is also the climax of an international tour by Galliano’s septet, the final concert in a fabulous musical and human adventure. It’s not only the memory of Piazzolla that vibrates in every stroke of the bow and every breath of the bandoneon, but our own memories, our own emotions. The Bouffes du Nord theater is also a marvelous setting for this music, an ideal stage where the tango can best work its complex, captivating magic.
