René and Irene were twins who were four and eight when they were deported to Auschwitz, where they were used as human guinea pigs by Josef Mengele. This documentary deals with the extraordinary series of coincidences that led both to America and their miraculous reunion years later. A reunion made possible by the intervention of Life Magazine, a gangster friend of Al Capone’s as well as President Truman. Sixty years after their liberation, these twins look back on the lives they led.
