This documentary is the first one dedicated to José de Guimarães whose work’s international projection has no parallel in the Portuguese artistic context. His work of vibrant colors and shapes is a crossing point of multiple references: Portuguese history, African iconography, Rubens baroque; and by setting it in urban spaces, José de Guimarães created a constant dialogue between art and its living environment, between the Portuguese culture and the world. In this sense, each piece from the documentary—the working process, the reality of the atelier, the artist’s own words or from those who have accompanied his trajectory—must be considered as part of the same questioning whose model will be in the crossing point.
