Myitkyina War
During WW2, Burma became a major front in the South-East Asian Theatre, and in 1942 it was invaded by Japanese troops. The Chinese army attempted to foil this advance, but failed due to lack of support from their British allies. The campaign was a human disaster, with more than 100,000 soldiers perishing at Naga Hill, in northern Burma near the Indian border. Forced to retreat to India, the Chinese army eventually gathered its forces, and in a counter-attack succeeded in pushing back the Japanese. With the help of interviews of veterans and previously unpublished images, this documentary recounts this gripping episode of the war. Here for the first time, Chinese journalists, focusing on the traces of the Chinese expeditionary corps, were granted permission to film at Naga Hill.
