Micha et la Révolution des rosesMicha and the Rose Revolution
In October 2003, Mikhail Saakashvili, the young and charismatic leader of the democratic opposition movement in Georgia, “Micha” to his supporters, denounced the fixed results of the recent presidential elections and the corruption poisoning political life. It only took him several weeks to topple the president in power, Eduard Shevardnadze, former companion of Mikhail Gorbachev: he forced him to resign and stood for and won the presidential elections, claiming 95% of the votes. Christian Zeender filmed this peaceful revolution and the electoral campaign of Georgia’s current president. He talks about a democratic, bloodless rise to power.
