Melvyn the Magnificent
In the Cape Flats ghettos of South Africa, far from the fashionable suburbs of City Bowl, still the province of Whites, lives a highly colorful individual: Melvyn. A charismatic man with a strong personality and boundless energy, by turns charming and brutal, Melvyn has a gift for federating energies. He fights to make the Cape Town carnival the most important cultural event in South Africa and gradually becomes an essential link between officials and the people. Focusing on Melvyn, his family and his community, this documentary also describes daily life in the townships, as it evokes the carnival and its preparations.
