This documentary was shot in a circus setting, a reference to Max Ophüls’ last film, Lola Montes. Interviews with the director’s technicians, actors and collaborators are especially enlightening and provide a portrait of a charming, elegant, sensitive and cultivated artist who was also highly demanding and at times dictatorial on the set.
