They're a tight-knit family, Kristin, Bernd and their 16-year-old daughter Amelie. And after moving to the big city from a small country town, they've probably become even closer. A little too close for Amelie, who starts to see lust in an innocent hug from her dad, and stifling repression in her mom's protective behavior. She's ill at ease in an apartment where the doors are always open. With none of her friends around, she can't share her longings and her fears. In an act of despair, she tries to take her life, an act that sweeps all three of them into a highly emotional process of re-assessment. Old ties must be broken, smoldering resentments must be brought to the surface, and, for Amelie, a new path must be found...
