74 people were left dead in the wake of five massacres committed between 1994 and 1997 in Quebec, France and Switzerland. The affair of the Order of the Solar Temple is probably one of the greatest criminal enigmas of the century. A muddled and bungled trial in Grenoble in 2001 didn’t shed much light on the reasons behind the murder or suicide of 74 people who were then immolated. Without claiming to come up with the key to this violent and complex, the film seeks to approach the truth, which no one until now seems to have really sought out, by trying to untangle the judicial imbroglio that still attends this case.
