Les Amants du Flore
A brilliant but withdrawn young woman is preparing for the baccalaureate exams in philosophy in 1924. Looking beyond the facade of the well-behaved young woman, a young man, as brilliant as he is unruly, senses the talent in Simone de Beauvoir and allows her to fulfill herself. Beyond her greatest expectations. This man, Jean-Paul Sartre, who seeks inspiration in his own life to create his philosophy, becomes her first lover and draws her into a rich, dissolute life that will leave its mark. She comes to find the inspiration for her book, “The Second Sex,” in her own experiences. The film retraces these rites of passage that reach their climax when, after having met the “American Lover,” she decides to sacrifice conventional love to the edification of her work and legend of the Sartre-Beauvoir couple.
