La RussiaRussia
Russia is more than a country, it is a continent. In the early 18th century its borders stretched from the very hub of Central Europe to the Beiring Straits. This was the result of an expansionistic policy that lasted for centuries and which even the communist regime did not stop. In 1945 the new Russian empire dominated half of Europe, stretching as far as Asia. Its military and political might could be felt across "half the world". The Cold War “began” and with it the policy of the counter-blocs. It would outlive the very last of the Czars, Joseph Stalin, by 40 years.
