La Prophétie de Piatsaw
This is a documentary about an endangered people: the Zapara Indians. They live deep in the Amazon jungle, on either side of the border between Ecuador and Peru. Of the some 200 remaining members, only four elders can still speak their native tongue. The oral tradition and the cultural expressions of this ethnic group were declared a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by Unesco. The founder of this nation, Piatsaw, had predicted it would die out. The film follows the exciting journey of a Zapara woman to several Indian communities in Peru. She is looking for her roots, to perhaps escape the terrible prophecy.
