La Petite Dame du Capitole
It was on the first of August 1949 that Lucienne Schnegg entered the Capitole cinema in Lausanne as a secretary. To her mind, it was her second birth. Now 80 years old, she is still around as Director and jack-of-all-trades. She tells us about her cinema - the grandest, the oldest, the largest, the very best years, when one queued on thursday to buy tickets for saturday, when one dressed to go out, when there was work for 25 employees, including the six in uniform just to seat the audience. Those were the days. Now, her huge cinema no longer pays, distributors no longer give exclusivity for important films, she is down to two employees.
