La Lista di Pasquale RotondiThe List of Pasquale Rotondi
During World War II Pasquale Rotondi hid about 10,000 paintings, preventing German troops from plundering them: Titian, Raphael, Giorgione, Caravaggio, Rubens, Bellini, Tiepolo… All happened near the end of the war, in Marche, a central region of Italy, where Rotondi concealed in Sassocorvaro Castle very valuable paintings. This was a solitary and dangerous action: only his driver and a few castle guardians supported him in this mission.
