La Danse de JupiterKin Soul
Kinshasa, 10 million inhabitants, is the run-down capital of a country on the edge: the Congo Democratic Republic. Since Mobutu was deposed, plunder and flight have claimed some four million lives and sunk the population into poverty. This film takes us into the ghettos of Kinshasa to meet its many musicians: rappers, griots, street children, crippled blues men... One of them, Jupiter, the charismatic leader of the group Okwess International, describes his long struggle to get his music out of the ghetto: in September 2004, two French producers came to record him. The album should be released in June 2006.
