Italo Calvino is probably the most famous and the most loved Italian writer of the 20th century. His novels have been translated in more than fifteen languages and his name evokes striking images and poetic remembrances in many readers throughout the world. The Isle of Calvino explores the writer's first fourty years using the structure of one of Calvino's most important books, The Invisible Cities: four fundamental stops or periods of Calvino's youth, each set in a different city: Cuba, San Remo, Turin and Paris using testimonies of his friends and contemporaries such as Gore Vidal, Renzo Piano and Eugenio Scalfari.
