L'Art de vieillirThe Art of Aging
Two men and two women, between the ages of 77 and 90, freed of other people’s judgments, intertwine the art of ageing with a kind of unexpected richness. Old age is that time of life in where we are freed of all preconceived notions. One by one, this film sweeps aside the platitudes that hinder the horizons of ageing. They exist, these old people without age, these old madmen, these old lovers, they exist in a state of horror and wonder, like tightrope ropers on the high wire of time. Ageing is human. There may be nothing more human. There is a whole art in this humanity. It is our humanity. It will be, sooner or later. You have to die beforehand, to escape it. This film wards off the popular imagery of old age as a shipwreck. Before any shipwreck, there is first of all the journey, an adventure through an unexplored continent: the North Pole of human existence.
