The Chicken Commander

A small group of Icelanders is sent to Kabul, Afghanistan, to take part in a multinational NATO effort. But Iceland has never had an army, and the so-called soldiers have never been really trained, have no military experience and are often confused in this war torn country far away from home. The film follows the day-to-day lives of the soldiers as they learn shooting, walk downtown Kabul heavily armed, and openly discuss their fears and homesickness. It also opens a window into Afghanistan, a country that has known much suffering, and yet the people met are filled with pride and optimistic sentiments for a better future.
