Every four years, the prestigious "Van Cliburn International Piano Competition,” takes place in Fort Worth, Texas, under the musical direction of James Conlon. In 2005, 35 young candidates from all over the world competed for the gold medal. The film, interwoven by musical sequences, deals with their preparation, and the passion and virtuosity with which they interpret the piano works of Prokofiev, Beethoven, Schumann… This is when the stuff of a future world-rank performer comes out, during the suspended moments in the growing tension toward the final verdict.
