Héritiers du paradis
On the small island of Huahine lost in the vastness of the South Pacific, two families, both descendants of European settlers, continue to wage a forty-year battle over several hectares of land on the border of a lagoon. With a great deal of humor, Jean-Luc Leon documents the tragi-comic legal battles between the heiress Brown Petersen and the Marcantoni. This dispute between neighbors exemplifies the kind of imbroglio so common among property owners in French Polynesia. The film also discloses the real stake at the origin of these never ending quarrels: foreign investments in an earthly paradise, wherever it may be.
