Hedy Lamarr - Secrets of a Hollywood Star
Fact is often stranger than fiction and never more so than with Hedy Lamarr. She was born Hedwig Eva Maria Kiesler in Austria in 1913. In the Hollywood of the 40s, under the pseudonym of Hedy Lamarr, she reached a worldwide audience, embodying the black-haired, sinful seductress imported from Europe. But her unknown side is that of a technical inventor. As a passionate opponent to the Nazis, she had an idea that paved the way for today's digital world of communication. “A torpedo is fired, unerringly, unstoppably towards its target,” says director Barbara Obermaier. “Can you think of any better allegory for this truly original sex bomb from Hollywood?”
