Kimiko, a young Japanese woman, is about to leave her country. Against the will of her father she plans to move to Switzerland and marry Philippe. The day before her departure she visits her family in the countryside with a desperate last attempt at reconciling her differences with her father. Haru Ichiban tells of the courage required to leave everything behind and highlights the sense of loss that flows as a consequence.
