Gilles Carle ou l'indomptable imaginaire
Gilles Carle, the prolific director of such films as La Vraie Nature de Bernadette and Maria Chapdelaine, has been battling with Parkinson’s disease for more than 15 years now. Using the director’s last script, which was completed in 2000, Mona Mc Gill et son vieux père malade, this film, shot over a period of nearly two years, takes a warm, penetrating look at this brave, lucid artist at odds with pain and the prospect of death. A solemn theme, but one which reflects a determined will to live and create. A film bathed in all the light and love of Chloé Sat.Marie, who has shared the filmmaker’s life for the past 22 years.
