Romanian law enforcement forces and its representatives are charged by the Iasi High Court with having destroyed a man’s life. It marks a legal precedent: Alexandru Tacu is demanding compensation for the murder of his son and almost 40 years of humiliations. Between 1948 and 1989, he and his family were contantly harassed as “enemies of the people,” emprisoned and sentenced to forced labor for anti-communist activities. Alexandru Tacu is now 75. Until now, Romania courts have granted him 100,000 euros for what he endured under the communist regime. He is appealing.
