Die Nacht von WildenhagenThe Night of Wildenhagen
January 1945. While the Red Army progresses quickly on the eastern front, the German populations are panic-stricken: a wave of collective suicides spread in eastern Prussia, in Silesia and Pomerania, stirred up by many years of anti-Bolshevik propaganda. Better to take one's own life than surrender. A small girl who was ten years old at the time and barely escaped death returns today on the scene of the drama to give her testimony. An unknown chapter of German history that many have chosen to ignore is vividly and movingly revived.
