In eight years from now, America’s indigenous oil supply will have run out. Securing an energy source is thus a top priority. In Iraq, they got their calculations very wrong: the fall of Saddam did not bring down the price of crude oil. Now, US oil has set its sights on Africa. In order to forearm themselves against any nasty surprises, the Pentagon plans to secure its new sources by means of US military and marine bases in West Africa. And in the worst-case scenario—a further deterioration in the situation on the oil market—conflict between the USA and Europe cannot be ruled out. Africa, US Oil’s New Target is a documentary looking into US strategies to secure their economic and political superpower status.
