In August of 1954, Alcide De Gasperi decides to retire from politics. On vacation in the mountains of Trent, he looks back at his past while during a walk with his grandson, reviewing events that range from his years as a student in Vienna to the eight different governments he leads as prime minister for the Christian Democrat Party. On the night of August 18th 1954, Alcide De Gasperi dies, comforted by his family.
