Cutting the Cord
Up until five years ago, Myriam Fuks, a famous Yiddish language singer, had a typical, daughter to Holocaust survivors, second generation CV. Then her life turned upside down: Myriam found a photo of her mother taken during the War, only it wasn’t taken in a camp, and the mother looked very well, and happy. The film follows Myriam as she sets out to discover her mother’s real story, the essence of her truth, and ultimately the meaning of reconciliation. It’s a film about myths, their use, and abuse. A victim twice—once in Nazi Germany, and again among her own people, this is about the two women’s fight for life, the zest to live.
