Buren et le GuggenheimBuren and the Guggenheim
In March 2005, The Guggenheim Museum in NY held an exhibition on Daniel Buren, one of today’s leading artists. Giving Buren carte blanche to rework the museum building, the final masterpiece of architect Frank Lloyd Wright, Buren and the Guggenheim continued a story begun 34 years earlier. Preparations for the March 2005 show provide the framework for this film: we see him appropriate and transform the museum space, sometimes so radically that it took construction workers to carry them out, sometimes so slightly that a passing cloud was enough to erase the changes.
