In several African nations, Benin in particular, hundreds of women from all walks of social life show off their bodies with pride and elegance. They weigh between 80 and 110 kg. and challenge conventional criteria of beauty. They are known as the “Nanas Benz.” They served as models for a new generation of African women. The election of Miss Nana Benz, filmed in Cotonou in 2004, provided an occasion to give the floor to these Misses and consider their preoccupations, from family to professional life.
