A communist for more than 30 years, an assembly line worker, then president of the second French federation of the French Communist Party, that of the North, and regional counselor, Annick Mattighello has been mayor of Louvroil since 2001. It is a town of 7,000 inhabitants in the most economically depressed region in France: the Val de Sambre. Through Annick’s daily battles, this documentary seeks to rediscover the meaning of political action: “I wanted to examine the reasons behind a commitment, understand the deeper motives that drive a politician to get her hands dirty.” (Isabelle Ingold)
