"Been to Afghanistan" is a a whisper that follows those who were forced to join Soviet Army in the Afghanistan war (1979-1989). This was a war for foreign country and unknown purposes. Every man tried to escape—few succeeded. The film is about two different “Afghan stories” with two heroes and their families—the artist Simson from Seaküla, whose wife forbids bringing up the war topic because “Simson will drink again for the next three weeks”; and a tractor driver Leino who lost his legs and one eye just a day before returning home.
