Abe NatanAbe Nathan
In February 1966, Abe Nathan took off from a small airport in Tel-Aviv, in a tiny plane. He embarked on a one-man peace crusade to Egypt, Israel's worst enemy at that time. The press reported that his plane had crashed and that Abe was dead. But when he re-appeared healthy the next day, he was transformed into a hero. Since then, Abe Nathan has dedicated his life and wealth to peace and humanitarian aid in Israel and abroad. A complex figure full of contradictions – Abe spoke of peace but was involved in bombing Palestinian villages, was a social magnet but remained a loner. A legend in his lifetime, his twilight years are spent in a wheelchair, alone and forgotten, looking for reasons for his suffering.
