Vukovar

Vukovar, the city of wolves, has been shelled more than any other city in Europe since the end of World War II. Its destruction is historic. A woman was eye witness to Vokuvar’s agony: Dr. Vesna Bosanac, who ran a hospital there. The day Vukovar fell after a three-month siege, Vesna risked her life to save 260 men who had sought shelter there. Among them were 60 Croatian fighters, the others were civilians. These refugees were executed on the night of November 19-20, 1991, a few hours after having been filmed, when combat had ceased. The case was judged by the current International Criminal Court in the Hague. The soldiers responsible for this massacre are being held in the Hague. They surrendered in 2003, 12 years after the facts. But their supreme leader, Slobodan Milosevic, the real instigator, is only now being tried.
