Composer Thierry Escaich is preparing a new two-part work for symphonic and chamber orchestra on the theme of the famous Rubens painting, The Descent from the Cross. The film follows him from rehearsals to the premiere in Lille, European capital of Culture in 2004. As the figures of the painting appear, we are gradually immersed in the composer’s music and spiritual world.
