Valahol Otthon LenniFrom Home to Home
Can you start a new life when you’ve left everything behind you? For months Sz. had been getting ready to leave for Hungary. He was lucky enough not to drown, died of cold or get himself murdered as he drifted for hours in the icy waters of the Szamos River. It took A.H. and his wife six-and-a-half years before they could live together again. They called us Romanians and wondered where we learned to speak their language so well. They hated us because they thought we were going to steal their jobs. The people in this documentary were born Hungarian outside the country’s current borders. They moved to Hungary in 1980, hoping to find a better life there.
