Sur la faille
Izmit, Turkey, August 17th, 1999. The earth shook. 20,000 dead. An entire region devastated. The director filmed the anger of a people against all those who abandoned them, the State, the Army. Four years later, he returned to Izmit. At the time, he had accompanied volunteer aid workers. The filmmaker found those he had met at the time and who have yet to overcome these psychological and economic traumas in modern-day Turkey. How did the earthquake upset their personal and professional live? Did this disaster have an effect on the economic, political and social context? How do they see the future? How would belonging to the European Union have improved their situation?
