Russicum
In the suffered history of the relationship between the Soviet Union and the Vatican, there was a page that so far had not been turned. It is the story of the Russicum college, created in Rome in 1929. It had the task of preparing Catholic priests to be sent to the Soviet Union in order to reconstitute the ecclesiastic hierarchy destroyed by the religious persecutions. On the basis of the documents found in the KGB archives, this is the incredible odyssey of a group of priests who arrived in the Soviet Union during the Second World War: they were arrested by the authorities and either shot down on site or they were deported to the Gulags. This documentary explores a forgotten page of the tormented story of the Cold War.
