Ricardo Ortega

On March 7, 2004, Ricardo Ortega, special correspondent to Haiti for Spain’s channel Antena 3, was shot and killed in Port-au-Prince. Six months later, the channel sent a news team to investigate the last hours of the Spanish reporter. It would appear that the reporter’s death was probably due to fire from an American soldier when from the start it was blamed on the “chimères” — President Aristide’s militia, recruited from among the population of the poorest quarters of Port-au-Prince. Five photographers who witnessed the tragedy talk to the camera.
