Rapa Nui He Moaï Aringa Oora Vananga...

Rapa Nui had a Dream

Easter Island is one of the most isolated spots on Earth, lost as it is in the South Pacific, 2,000 miles from the nearest population center. It’s population: 3,000. Famous for its mysterious giant stone monoliths, the Moai, it attracts a growing number of tourists who are the island’s main source of income. It is officially known under the Spanish name: Isla de Pascua. Locally, it is called “Rapa Nui,” meaning “Great Brilliance, or “Tepito O Te Henua,” “the navel of the world.” All the history books describe a civilization that vanished in the 19th century. But there still are natives, the Rapa Nui, and the Hucke family is directly descended from them. This clan of diehards give us their version of the history of the Rapa Nui people.
