Parasol(s)
Sarah Glaisen’s videos are visually highly sophisticated and seem to have been produced by a paint box or some other electronic graphics generator. Not at all. The artist uses scale models built and filmed in real time, mini-sets that challenge our perception and the reality of images. Time is of the essence in her order of things and some of her videos can last several hours. Parasol(s) deals with objects, parasols that are used in cocktails, which twirl as if turned by some autonomous mechanism, a sort of hypnotic landscape ballet.
