Omar Sharif, la réussite d'un joueur solitaire
Omar Sharif is not only one of the finest actors of his generation, he is also blessed with a caustic sense of humor, as much directed at himself as at others. Doing a portrait of him involves conveying a lesson of introspection devoid of any smugness. It is also a metaphor for our Western civilization in which interbreeding has become one of the main components of our societies. He is one of the most cultivated of men, so much so that it is hard to tell the Eastern from the Western parts of his personality. Interwoven with footage shot by François Chalais between 1954 and 1963, this portrait retraces the career of a great international actor, in which the game of chance was a metaphor for a great career.
