Nature contre nature
Psychoananalyst Sebastien Chantoux moves to the Creuse region. No sooner has he set up shop then he discovers “Troc’En Creuse,” an association inspired by the LETS (Local exchange trading system). He realizes that this village is full of a potential new clientele, but one which deals in barter. At first reticent about exchanging his therapy sessions, Sebastien finally accepts it. Slowly his agenda fills up... along with his larder. He adapts to local customs by diversifying his practice, until he ends up holding sessions in the woods in exchange for a depressed hunter’s rabbit. Robert, a farmer, even manages to negotiate to have his sessions while he’s milking the cows — it relaxes his subconscious. In a few weeks, Sebastien becomes a local personality without taking out a cent from his pocket. The only person who takes a dim view of all this is Laplace, president of the regional psychoanalysts society (SCP). He’s read about these barter sessions and demands that his colleague put an end to these shameful practices. Sebastien fights back with the backing of “Troc’En Creuse.” A week later, a threat comes knocking at his door in the person of Miss Oudinot, a tax inspector. This means war: “Troc’En Creuse” vs. the SCP, cordial economics vs. unchecked capitalism, supported by a surprise ally: regional psychoanalysis.
