Magia Russica
A documentary about Russian animation in the Soviet era. It is not didactic, although it deals with the history of Russian animation, and about animation in general. More importantly, it is a poetic film about aesthetics, about cinema and the relationship between society, the state and art. It is about being Russian, being an artist and being human. It also deals with differences and similarities between ideological censorship (Communism) and commercial censorship that involves considerations of ratings (Capitalism).
