Les Libérateurs
85% of the city of Le Havre was destroyed between September 5 and 10, 1944. Some 12,000 tons of bombs were dropped on it in the course of 152 bombing raids that claimed more than 5,000 civilian lives. This film returns to that period and hears out the witnesses of that tragedy. Through them, the film gives an important place to that personal dimension of traumatic memories. But it’s not just the bombings; it’s the fact of living the rest of one’s life with the memory of events whose meaning is beyond comprehension.
