La Parenthèse interditeThe Forbidden Digression
Sebastien, an infant only months old, is afflicted with a serious genetic ailment that requires him to live in a bubble. While his father, Christian, devotes all his time to looking after his son, his mother, Sophie, is unable to accept this sickness because it was transmitted through her. She withdraws into a position of rejection, both of the hospital and her child. These two fundamentally different responses to adversity expose the couple’s failings and the distance between the two parents, which widens a little more each day. Idle, Christian grows closer to Virginia, a young woman whose daughter, Noemie, also hospitalized, suffers from an incurable disease. Their relationship quickly becomes a passion which affects them both deeply. How will Christian find fulfillment in this romantic but adulterous affair? And how can Virginie’s suffering be eased when Sebastien’s health improves while Noemie’s condition deteriorates?
