This film gives a voice to those artists, be they sculptors, painters or writers, who live and create in a country at war, namely Iraq. How do you create when danger is everywhere, and a foreign army occupies your country? These men will tell us their insider's vision of what they had to bear. They will explain how they manage to create in such hostile and improper surroundings ; wheter events stimulate or hinder their inspiration. The camera follows each of them in their everyday life, in the danger, the humiliation, the insecurity and the anarchy. The simple act of buying a paint brush, and thus, of crossing the street or the town, becomes an adventure that is both dangerous and necessary. Indeed, a simple detail in times of peace can be an adventure in times of war. In such an environement, the point of view of these men and women shows a different perception of current events in Iraq : one that we neither see nor hear about. They are not soldiers, and they did not choose this war, but they are the ones who will write the books, display the sculptures and the paintings, the ones who will build again what this war has destroyed.
