Heim ins Reich
The German invasion of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in 1940 was the start of a long ordeal for its people. For four years, the Nazi occupiers sought to make the Grand Duchy part of the German Reich. If not all Luxembourgers were anti-German, a handful of men and women engaged in resistance activities, thus instilling a spirit of defiance among the Luxembourger people. More than any other period its history, the German Occupation was crucial in eliciting among Luxembourgers an awareness of their own national identity. This film is based on archival footage and interviews and the reminiscences of witnesses directly involved in the events.
