Granny Advertises for a Husband

Newspapers and television stations of Hefei reported in the year of 2002 that a 82 years old woman, Granny Ruan, was advertising for a husband. Her action aroused the attention of nearly ten old men in China. A retired 84 years old man admired the courage and took a flight to meet her. The advertising of Granny Ruan was opposed by her children and was not well understood. Some of them even laughed at her. An old man Lao Gu from Nanjing was very much moved after reading the story of Granny Ruan in newspapers and he paid her a visit in Hefei. Lao Gu’s wife passed away three years ago. Although he was six years younger than Granny Ruan, he was willing to develop his relationship with her. Three months later, news came from Hefei that Granny Ruan and Lao Gu had registered their marriage in Nanjing.
