Broken Red

If anyone should find this letter and I am no longer here, or unable to speak: know that no one forced me to do what I have done. It was my own free choice, I am the only one responsible. I’ve tried to eliminate someone who in my view doesn’t deserve to live. I hope it helps, if only a little. And to my family I say: It wasn’t out of bitterness or recklessness: I just had to do this… The film tells the story of Simon, a retired teacher of Dutch language and literature and member of an underground resistance group during World War II. When in the year 2004 one of the members of the group is brutally murdered by two youngsters, past and present flow into one another. The group decides to take action and start fighting evil once more…
